As Maine Shooting Anniversary Approaches - Tricia Asselin Remembered By National Nonprofit

Memorial Fundraiser for Maine shooting victim launched as 1 year anniversary of Lewiston shooting approaches.

On October 25th 2023 a tragedy unfolded in Lewiston, Maine, when a gunman opened fire at Just-in-Time Recreation and Schemengees Bar and Grille in Lewiston, killing 18 and wounding 13 others.

As the days since that tragic day passed, The Uvalde Foundation for Kids, a nonprofit formed following the mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas announced it would be awarding 5 of the victims with its posthumous award for heroism, as details emerged of heroism efforts to save others in the line of fire. One of those heroes, Tricia Asselin, who was an employee at Just-in-Time Recreation, was shot and killed while trying to call 9-1-1.

Late Monday evening, the foundation announced that in coordination with Asselin's sister, Bobbi Nichols, it will be honoring Tricia with a special October fundraiser. Foundation officials noted that partial proceeds raised from the fundraiser are slated toward a unique commemorative Tshirt, honoring the 53 year old mother, sister & daughter lost that tragic day. Donors that contribute $25 or more will receive the Tshirt as a special thank you & a moving way to remember that fateful day.

*Please Remember To Include With Your PAYPAL/JUSTGIVING Donation Of $25 Or More, Your Tshirt Size & Mailing Address. A Photo Print Of The New Tshirt Design Will be Available Soon.

Potential donors are also being directed to a special athletic scholarship fund in honor of Tricia. A direct link for donations to the athletic scholarship may be made via the ONLY OFFICIAL Gofundme link for the, "Tricia Johnson-Asselin Memorial Sports Scholarship," https://gofund.me/8cf3cc47 and via the foundation main website.

Tricia Asselin, 53, of Auburn, was born on Aug. 30, 1970, in Lewiston, Maine. She was known by family & friends as the most kind-hearted and caring person, who would give the shirt off her back to anyone who needed it more than her. Just a couple of the many examples of her generosity would be her contributions to the giving tree at Christmas time for kids in need. She was very involved in Make-A-Wish, and to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Trish was not the type of person you would find sitting at home and relaxing, as she was not one to sit still. She would often tell you “sleep is overrated”, and would rather spend her time doing the hobbies she enjoyed or working one of her many jobs.

To support the foundation special memorial fundraiser, including the memorial Tshirt donation option, contributions may be made via our secured PayPal link at:

Officials noted that an additional fundraiser donation page is being launched this week via its JUSTGIVING PLATFORM.

Tricia is gone but not forgotten... We will remember...
