AUSTIN, Texas - Following the fatal stabbing of a Manor ISD high school student, Tuesday afternoon, at Manor Senior High School on FM 973, the National nonprofit, the One In Five Foundation For Kids, formerly known as the Uvalde Foundation For Kids; formed following the Uvalde, Texas mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in May 2022; announced that it is deploying its STOPNOW citizen school patrol teams, beginning Thursday; in an effort to Increase student safety & provide support for students upon their planned return to campuses on Thursday.
The foundation also announced in the release that it has opened up a special 24 hour school violence support line to the district school communities; with both peer and professional support team members available. 254 206 9089.
Two students were involved in an altercation on the campus before the stabbing. According to Manor ISD, a suspect is in custody.
The STOPNOW Trained patrol teams will station and patrol at various locations, throughout the district over the next several weeks, including Manor Senior High School and Manor Early College High School. Patrols will surround the campus communities although will not go on district properties, unless invited by school officials.
The emergency, STOPNOW volunteer safety patrols for the school community neighborhood are slated to include over a dozen team members for ongoing rotation with more being recruited & trained from the school and community.
Foundation STOPNOW Patrols, modeled after the "Guardian Angels," anti crime unit in NYC in the 1980's, patrol school perimeters to minimize & prevent safety incidents from reaching school campuses; while also providing extra encouragement and support for students and neighborhoods during traumatic times.
Patrols are currently ongoing at several historically troubled school neighborhoods or those effected by violence or threat of violence throughout the nation; including Morgan State University, Michigan State University & Choctaw High School; all sites of recent student related shootings and threats.
